1.01	DESCRIPTION OF WORK
	A.	This section includes aluminum framed bulletin board cabinets and directory
		cabinets of the following type:
		1.  Claridge Cork Bulletin Board Cabinets

				Board Cabinets optional
		2.  Grooved Felt Directory Board Cabinets

1.03 	SUBMITTALS
	A.	Shop Drawings:  Provide shop drawings for each type of bulletin or directory cabinet 
		required.
	B.	Product Data:  Provide technical data for materials specified.  Include Material
		Safety Data Sheets, when applicable.
	C.	Samples:
		1.  Manufacturer's color charts
		2.  Composition samples of material and trim to illustrate finish, color and texture.

1.04 	OPERATION & MAINTENANCE
	A.	Include data on regular cleaning, stain removal, and precautions.

1.05 	REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
	A.	Conform to applicable code for flame/smoke rating in tackboards in accordance with 
		ASTM-E 84.

1.06 	QUALITY ASSURANCE
	A.	Provide all items in this section as manufactured by:

1.07	FIELD CONDITIONS
	A.	Field measure prior to preparation of shop drawings and fabrication to ensure proper fit.  

1.08	WARRANTY
	A.	Submit a standard warranty, stating when installed in accordance with manufacturer's 
		instructions and recommendations, Claridge bulletin and directory board cabinets are 
		guaranteed for one year against defects in materials and workmanship.  Guarantee 
		does not cover normal wear and tear, improper handling, any misuse, or any defects 
		caused by vandalism or subsequent abuse.  Guarantee covers replacement of defective 
		material but does not include cost of removal or reinstallation.

2.02	MATERIALS
	A.	Imperial Series Bulletin Board and Directory Cabinets with sliding doors 
		1.	Architect to select bulletin board, directory or combination cabinet.
			a.	Architect to select tackable bulletin board back panel from Claridge 
				Cork, Fabricork, Designer Fabric, Hook-Fab or Tan Nucork.  
				Architect to specify color from manufacturer's standard bulletin 
				board colors.  
			b.	Architect to select grooved directory back panel from Felt or Vinyl. 
				Architect to specify color from manufacturer's standard directory 
				colors.
		2.	Standard sizes: 36" x 48", 36" x 60", 48" x 60" and 48" x 72".  Special sizes 
			on request.  72” maximum. 
		3.	Housing:  Perimeter trim is 3-1/4" extruded aluminum; inside cabinet depth 
			is 1-1/2".
		4.	Header Panel:  Architect to specify with or without 6" translucent plexiglas 
			header. Vinyl letters included for header.
		5.	Doors:  Two sliding 3/16” tempered glass doors with ground-in finger pulls and 
			flat key tumbler locks.
	B:	Contemporary Series Bulletin Board or Directory Cabinets 
		1.	Architect to select bulletin board or directory cabinet.
			a.	Architect to select tackable bulletin board back panel from Claridge 
				Cork, Fabricork, Designer Fabric, Hook-Fab or Tan Nucork. Architect 
				to specify color from manufacturer's standard bulletin board colors.  
			b.	Architect to select grooved directory back panel from Felt or Vinyl. 
				Architect to specify color from manufacturer's standard directory 
				colors.
		2.	Standard sizes: 3' x 2' up to 4' x 12'.  Special sizes on request.
		3.	Housing:  Perimeter trim is 1-1/2" x 3" rectangular aluminum trim; inside 
			cabinet depth is 1-3/4".
		4.	Header Panel:  Architect to specify with or without 6" translucent plexiglas 
			header.  Vinyl letters included for header.
		5.	Doors:  Architect to specify 3/16” tempered glass sliding doors with ground-in 
			finger pulls or 3/16” tempered glass hinged doors with piano hinges.  Both 
			have flat key tumbler locks.  Number of doors dependent on size.  Units up to 
			3’0” wide have one door; 4’, 5’ and 6’ units have two; 7’ sliding door units 
			have two doors; 7’ hinged door units have three; and 8’, 10’, and 12’ units 
			have four doors.
		6.	Contemporary Options:  4” housing in lieu of 3”; Weatherproofing - hinged 
			door cabinets only.  Note:  No. 548 Outdoor Contemporary Directories are 
			weatherproofed.  No. 548 available in sizes up to 42” x 36”.  (Because of a 
			tendency to fade in direct sunlight, we recommend vinyl for outdoor cabinets 
			rather than felt.)
	C.	Large Contemporary Series Bulletin Board Cabinets with hinged door(s)
		1.	Architect to select from Claridge Cork, Fabricork, Hook-Fab, Designer Fabric 
			or Tan Nucork tackable bulletin board panels.
		2.	Standard sizes:  5’ x 3’; 5’ x 6’; 6’ x 4’; and 6’ x 8’.  Special sizes on request.
		3.	Housing:  Heavy-gauge rectangular aluminum with satin anodize finish. 
			Architect to select from 1-1/2” x 3” or 1-3/4” x 4” housing.  3” housing has 
			1-3/4” inside depth; 4” housing has 2-3/4” inside depth.
		4.	Doors:  Tempered glass doors hung on piano hinges with flat key tumbler locks.
	D.	Revere Series Bulletin Board or Directory Cabinets with hinged door(s)
		1.	Architect to select bulletin board or directory cabinet.
			a.	Architect to select tackable bulletin board back panel from Claridge 
				Cork, Fabricork, Designer Fabric, Hook-Fab or Tan Nucork. Architect 
				to specify color from manufacturer's standard bulletin board colors.  
			b.	Architect to select grooved directory back panel from Felt or Vinyl.

		2.	Standard sizes:  3' x 2' up to 4' x 12' for bulletin board cabinets; 2’ x 3’ 
			up to 4’ x 6’ for directory cabinets - No. 541 and No. 544. Intermediate sizes 
			available.
		3.	Housing: Perimeter trim is 1" x 3" hollow tube aluminum perimeter with satin 
			anodize finish.  Inside depth of cabinet is 1-3/4".
		4.	Doors:  Hinged doors have 3/16” tempered glass, continuous hinges and flat 
			key tumbler locks.  Cabinets up to 3’6” wide will have one door; 4’, 5’, 
			and 6’ cabinets will have two; 7’ cabinets have three; and 8’ and larger 
			have four doors.
		5.	Revere Options:  Round corners, available in sizes through 4’ x 8’. 
	E.	Classic Series Bulletin Board Cabinets with hinged door(s)
		1.	Architect to select from Claridge Cork, Fabricork, Hook-Fab, Designer Fabric 
			or Tan Nucork tackable bulletin board panels.
		2.	Standard sizes:  3’ x 2’ up to 4’ x 6’.  Special sizes on request.
		3.	Housing:  Perimeter trim is 1-1/2” x 3” hollow tube aluminum with radius 
			edges and satin anodize finish.  Inside depth is 1-3/4”.
		4.	Doors:  Hinged doors have 3/16” tempered glass, continuous hinges and flat 
			key tumbler locks.  2’ and 3’ wide cabinets have one door; 4’, 5’ and 6’ wide 
			cabinets have two.       
	F.	Universal Series Bulletin and Directory Board Cabinets with hinged doors
		1.	Architect to select bulletin board, directory or combination cabinet.
			a.	Architect to select tackable bulletin board back panel from Claridge 
				Cork, Fabricork, Designer Fabric, Hook-Fab or Tan Nucork. Architect 
				to specify color from manufacturer's standard bulletin board colors.

		2.	Standard sizes:  30” x 48”; 36” x 48”; 48” x 48”; 42” x 60”; 48” x 60”;

		3.	Housing:  Perimeter trim is 3” extruded aluminum; inside cabinet depth is 
			1-15/16”.
		4.	Doors:  3/16” hinged tempered glass doors with piano hinges and flat key 
			tumbler locks. 72” wide cabinets have three doors; 48” and 60” cabinets have 
			two.
	G.	Deluxe Series Bulletin Board Cabinets with hinged doors
		1.	Back panel:  Tan Nucork.
		2.	Standard sizes:  24” x 18” to 42” x 60”.
		3.	Housing:  Perimeter trim is 2” extruded aluminum; inside cabinet depth is 3/4”.
		4.	Doors:  3/16” hinged tempered glass doors with continuous piano hinges and 
			flat key tumbler locks. Cabinets up to 30” wide have one door; 48” and 60” 
			cabinets have two doors.
	H.	Rival Series Bulletin and Directory Board Cabinets with one hinged door
		1.	Architect to select from Tan Nucork bulletin board (No. 363, 365, 366 and 367) 
			or grooved vinyl or felt directory (No. 440 or No. 441) back panels.
		2.	Standard sizes:  24” x 18” up to 42” x 30”.
		3. 	Housing:  Perimeter trim is 1-15/16” extruded aluminum; inside cabinet depth 
			is 3/4”.
		4.	Door:  3/16” tempered glass hinged door with continuous hinge and flat key 
			tumbler lock.      
	I.	Metal Trim and Accessories:  Provide aluminum extrusions as manufactured by Claridge 
		Products and Equipment, Inc.  Trim shall be heavy gauge extruded aluminum and shall 
		meet or exceed ASTM B221 Alloy Standards.  Finish to be etched and anodized satin finish.
	J.	Colors:  As selected from manufacturer's standard colors.  Claridge Cork and Designer 
		Fabric are available in 12 colors; Fabricork is available in 20 colors; and Hook-Fab is 
		available in 5 colors.  Grooved Felt directory panels available in Green, Gray, Red or 
		Black, and Vinyl available in Brown, Blue or Black.  Color charts furnished on request.
	K.	Hanging Devices:  Imperial Series Cabinets, Contemporary Series Cabinets, Revere Series 
		Cabinets, Classic Series Cabinets, Universal Series Cabinets, Deluxe Series Cabinets, and 
		Rival Series Cabinets shall have Z-bar hangers.  Large Door Contemporary Cabinets have 
		angle hangers furnished - top and bottom.  
	L.	Options:  Color anodize or powder coat finish on trim; fluorescent lights.  Recessed 
		installation optional for Contemporary and Revere Cabinets and Large Door Contemporary 
		Cabinets.  
	M.	Accessories:  Roman style plastic directory letters and numbers in sizes from 3/8" to 3" 
		are available for use with directories.  

2.03	FABRICATION
	A.	Shop assembly:  Provide factory assembled cabinets to requirements indicated on shop 
		drawings.
	B. 	Cabinets shall be of dimensions shown in details and in accordance with manufacturer’s 
		shop drawings, as approved by architect.
		
PART 3 -  EXECUTION

3.01	PROJECT CONDITIONS
	A.	Verify before installation that interior moisture and temperature approximate normal 
		occupied conditions.
	B.	Verify that wall surfaces are prepared and ready to receive cabinets.

3.02	INSTALLATION
	A.	Deliver factory built units completely assembled in one piece without joints, 
		wherever possible.
	B.	Follow manufacturer's instructions for storage and handling of units before installation.  
	C.	Install level and plumb, with fasteners furnished, in accordance with manufacturer's 
		recommendations.

3.03	ADJUST AND CLEAN
	A.	Verify that all accessories are installed as required for each unit.
	B.	At completion of work, clean glass surfaces, tackboard and/or directory panels, and trim 
		in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, leaving all materials ready for use.
